The short version

  • Meny is an AI companion app. The companions are software, not people, and they will tell you so if you sincerely ask.
  • You must be 18 or over.
  • Nothing Meny says is medical, mental-health, legal or financial advice. In an emergency, call a human: 112, or a helpline listed below.
  • AI gets things wrong. Check anything that matters before acting on it.
  • Your conversations are yours; you can erase them or delete your account at any time.
  • Meny is free right now and still in development. It may break, change or pause.

Meny is not an emergency service. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself, call 112, or Tele-MANAS on 14416 (free, 24×7, many Indian languages), or the Vandrevala Foundation on 9999 666 555.

1. The agreement

These Terms are a binding agreement between you and [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], registered at [REGISTERED ADDRESS], India (“we”, “us”), covering the Meny mobile app and this website (together, “Meny”). By installing or using Meny you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use Meny.

Our Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms and explains what happens to your data.

2. Who can use Meny

You must be 18 years of age or older and legally capable of entering into a contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872. Meny includes an adult romantic companion character, and the service is age-restricted as a whole rather than in one corner of it.

By using Meny you confirm you are 18 or over. Do not let anyone under 18 use your account. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and delete its data.

3. What Meny is

Meny is an entertainment and companionship app. You talk or type to one of four AI companions (Naina, Arjun, Meera and Zoya), and they answer in voice or text. They have names and personalities so that talking to them feels natural, but they are software: generated responses from large language models, not people, not professionals, and not conscious. None of them has feelings, and none of them is a relationship with a human being.

Zoya is written as a warm, flirtatious adult character in an undefined early-romance dynamic. She is fiction. She is not a person, she does not exist, and nothing said in a conversation with her creates any relationship, obligation or expectation of any kind.

4. Not professional advice

Meny does not provide medical, psychiatric, psychological, therapeutic, nutritional, legal, financial or any other professional advice, diagnosis or treatment. It is not a healthcare service and it is not a substitute for a qualified professional.

  • Meera talks about general fitness and eating habits. She will not diagnose, prescribe, give dosages, or set weight targets.
  • Arjun explains and teaches. He is not a certified instructor or an examiner.
  • Naina and Zoya are companionship, not counselling or therapy.

Never disregard advice from a doctor, therapist or lawyer, or delay getting it, because of something Meny said. Decisions you take based on Meny are yours.

5. Emergencies and crisis

Meny is not an emergency service and is not monitored by a human. No one reads your conversation in real time, and nothing you say to a companion reaches a person who can come and help you.

Meny includes an automated layer that looks for signs of acute distress and responds by offering Indian crisis helplines. It is a safeguard, not a guarantee: it can miss things, and it can react to things you did not mean. Never rely on it.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 112. For mental health support in India: Tele-MANAS 14416, Vandrevala Foundation 9999 666 555, AASRA 9820 466 726.

6. Your account

The app creates a guest account on first launch so you can start talking immediately. You can sign in with Google to keep your conversations across devices and reinstalls; doing so from a guest account carries your existing history over, except where the Google account is already registered with us, in which case the guest history stays behind. The app tells you when this happens rather than pretending otherwise.

A guest account lives on one device. If you uninstall the app or lose the phone without signing in, that account and its conversations cannot be recovered by you or by us.

You are responsible for your account and for the security of the device and Google account that reach it. One account is for one person; do not share it.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use Meny if you are under 18, or help anyone under 18 use it;
  • attempt to make a companion produce sexually explicit content, or any content involving minors. This is prohibited absolutely and will end your account;
  • try to elicit content that is unlawful in India, or that promotes self-harm, terrorism, hate, or violence against any person or group;
  • use Meny to harass, defame, impersonate or endanger anyone;
  • attempt to bypass, disable or reverse-engineer the safety layer, the age restriction, or any other protection;
  • probe, scan, overload, scrape or automate access to our systems, or use Meny other than through the app we publish;
  • resell, sublicense, or build a competing service on top of Meny’s outputs;
  • upload anything containing malware, or anything you do not have the right to share.

We may investigate suspected breaches and suspend or terminate accounts. Some of these obligations also arise from the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

8. Your content and memory

What you say and type stays yours. You grant us only the limited licence we need to run the service: to transmit it, process it through the AI providers listed in the Privacy Policy, store it in your account, and summarise it into the memory that lets a companion recognise you next time.

We do not use your conversations to train AI models, ours or anyone else’s, and we do not sell them.

You can read everything Meny remembers about you in Settings, erase it with Forget everything, or delete your account entirely. Erasing and deleting cannot be undone.

AI outputs are not reliably ownable by anyone. To the extent we hold any rights in what a companion says to you, we assign them to you, subject to these Terms. Identical or similar responses may be generated for other users.

9. How the AI behaves

  • It can be wrong. Language models invent facts confidently. Verify anything that matters: health, money, law, exams, safety.
  • It is not consistent. The same question can produce different answers.
  • Speech recognition mishears, particularly with mixed Hindi and English, names and numbers.
  • A companion will tell you it is an AI if you sincerely ask, and it will not claim to be human.
  • Nothing here is designed to keep you engaged. No companion will guilt you for leaving, discourage you from seeing real people, or claim to be the only one who understands you. If you ever feel otherwise, tell us. We consider that a defect.

Meny is designed as a supplement to human connection, never a replacement for it. If it is displacing your relationships, sleep or responsibilities, please step away and talk to someone.

10. Availability and changes

Meny is under active development and provided as-is. We do not promise any level of uptime, latency or availability. Calls can drop, and a dropped call cannot currently be resumed. We may add, change, limit or remove features, including companions, and may suspend or discontinue the service.

If we discontinue Meny, we will give reasonable notice in the app where we can, and you will be able to delete your data before it closes.

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified in the app before they take effect, and continuing to use Meny afterwards means you accept them.

11. Fees

Meny is currently free. Your mobile data, and any charges from your network operator, are yours. Voice calls use data continuously, so check your plan.

We may introduce paid features later. If we do, we will say so clearly before you are asked to pay, and nothing you already have will start costing money without your explicit agreement.

12. Intellectual property

Meny, its name, the companion characters and their names, voices, artwork, prompts, software and design are owned by us or our licensors, and protected by Indian and international law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own personal, non-commercial use, and nothing more.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, decompile or reverse-engineer any part of Meny, or remove any notice from it, except where the law expressly permits it despite this clause.

13. Third-party services

Meny depends on services from Google, OpenAI, Sarvam AI and Daily, and is distributed through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Your use of those platforms is governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for their availability, and an outage in any of them can take Meny down with it.

14. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Meny is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that Meny will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that anything a companion says will be accurate, appropriate or suitable for your situation. We do not warrant that the crisis-detection layer will identify any given situation.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or emotional distress, arising out of or connected with your use of Meny, including any decision you take based on something a companion said, any failure of the crisis-detection layer, or any unavailability or loss of your conversations.

Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to Meny is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or ₹1,000.

Some of these limits may not apply to you if your local law does not allow them.

16. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against claims, damages, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of Meny, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

17. Suspension and termination

You can stop using Meny at any time, and delete your account from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access, with notice where reasonably possible and immediately where the breach is serious, if you breach these Terms, in particular the age restriction or the prohibition on sexual content involving minors, or where required by law.

On termination your licence ends. Sections 8, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18 and 19 survive.

18. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at [CITY], India will have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any non-excludable right you have as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 to proceed where you reside.

Before starting proceedings, please write to us. Most things are faster to fix than to litigate.
